In the past, Eternia is attacked by the sorcerer Keldor and his Evil Warriors, battling against Captain Randor and the Masters of the Universe. The Elders of Eternia, aware of this attack, seal away their magical power into an orb and prophecise that a hero will rise to defend Eternia from evil in the future, before Randor defeats Keldor by deflecting a vial of poison into his face.
The first season ends on a cliffhanger in which Skeletor unites several of the other adversaries fought by the Heroic Masters into a grand council of evil. He captures most of the Masters, forcing He-Man and Teela to enter Snake Mountain. Adam becomes separated from his sword, and is soon forced to protect Castle Grayskull from Skeletor without it.

Stinkor was first introduced in 1985 as an action figure from the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe toyline and came packaged with a mini-comic entitled The Stench of Evil!. The Stinkor action figure had a semi-foul scent, giving it the distinction of being one of the few toys whose "action feature" was an odor.
