Pointless is a British television quiz show produced by Banijay subsidiary Remarkable Entertainment for the BBC hosted by Alexander Armstrong. In each episode, four teams of two contestants attempt to find correct but obscure answers to four rounds of general knowledge questions, with the winning team eligible to compete for the show's cash jackpot.
Quizzes can come in nine game types: Classic, Clickable, Grid, Map, Multiple Choice, Order Up, Picture Box, Picture Click, and Slideshow, each of which can be played in a variety of ways, including Minefield, Forced Order, or entering the answers in any order. The type and method by which users will complete the quiz is chosen by the quiz creators.
The family in control chooses a category and is asked a question with six answer choices, and as many correct answers as the number of members still in the game. Each answer is assigned to a different ramp, and the members must stand at the bottom of the ramps for the answers they believe to be correct, facing away from the ramps and over the pool.
For the first survey question, only the top answer is needed, the second needs the top two answers, the third needs the top three answers, and the fourth and final question needs the top four answers. If a team member feels they are stuck on a question, they can hit the skip button (which stops the clock) and skip to the next question.
