(3) Jackson did do some painting early in his life, but almost entirely photography up until his last 10 years of life when he turned to painting and illustration. I suspect the painting illos are from about 1930s-40s. Driggs put out a book with Jackson in 1935 about the Pony Express and it had Jackson painting illos.
