[1] He is the first known victim of serial killer and sex offender John Wayne Gacy, who raped, tortured and murdered at least 33 young men and boys in Norwood Park Township, near Chicago, Illinois, between 1972 and 1978.

Gallipolis (/ ˌ ɡ æ l ə p ə ˈ l iː s / GAL-ə-pə-LEESS [7]) is a chartered village in and the county seat of Gallia County, Ohio, United States. [8] The municipality is located in Southeast Ohio along the Ohio River about 55 miles (89 km) southeast of Chillicothe and 44 miles (71 km) northwest of Charleston, West Virginia .
McCoy was born in 1876 in the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania. [1] He was the son of Osborn George McCoy and his wife Lavanda Walters, and had one sibling, J. Ross McCoy, who died young in 1899. [2] He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1898 and completed his internship at City Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. [3]
