Alfred Duma Municipality (Zulu: UMasipala wase Alfred Duma) is a local municipality within the uThukela District Municipality, in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa. It was established for the August 2016 local elections by merging the Emnambithi/Ladysmith and Indaka local municipalities.
Ladysmith is the seat for both the Alfred Duma Local Municipality and Uthukela District Municipality. The town was named after Juana María de los Dolores de León Smith , also known as "Lady Smith," the Spanish wife of Sir Harry Smith , the Governor of the Cape Colony from 1847–1852.

In 1852 the farm Elandsvlei was set aside for the town, and it became a municipality in 1862. It was named after Lady Juana María de los Dolores de León Smith, the wife of Sir Harry Smith, one of two towns in South Africa named after her, the other being Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal.
