McLennan is one of three colleges in Waco along with Baylor University and Texas State Technical College. McLennan Community College is located on 200 acres (81 ha) on the north side of town near the Bosque River and Cameron Park. The college also owns Highlander Ranch, a 200-acre (81 ha) farm about 5 miles (8.0 km) from the main campus.
In statewide parlance, the district is sometimes referred to as Waco Midway or Hewitt Midway to distinguish it from the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District near Corpus Christi, Texas. In 2016 and 2017, the school district was rated as "Met Standard" by Texas Education Agency .
In the 1970s, it moved to a new location on the corner of North 19th and College Drive, which is now the campus of McLennan Community College. TCA was created in 2000 from the merger of Waco Christian School and Waco Covenant Academy. In 2012, TCA merged with Parkview Christian Academy in Waco, moving from 4600 Sanger Ave. to the Parkview campus at 1100 Lake Shore Drive, but retaining the TCA name. The combined school's total enrollment was approximately 230. [1]
