Theodora Agnes Peck was born in Burlington, Vermont on October 25, 1882. [2] An only child, her father was Theodore S. Peck, a recipient of the Medal of Honor during the American Civil War, and her mother was Agnes Louise Lesslie (1843–1917) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
In retirement, Shangraw continued to reside in St. Albans, and continued to hear cases occasionally as a specially assigned judge in Vermont's courts until the mid-1980s. [10] He died in St. Albans on December 18, 1988, and was buried at Hillside Cemetery in Richford. [1] In October 2014, the courthouse in St. Albans was named for Shangraw. [10]
Pettingill also obtained control of another paper, The St. Albans Advertiser, and consolidated their publication as The Messenger and Advertiser. Subsequent publishers and editors included D. W. Dixon, Warren Gibbs, and George T. Childs. In 1892 a corporation was formed to publish the paper, the Messenger Company.

Greenwood Cemetery is a burial ground located in St. Albans (city), Vermont. The entrance is on South Main Street (U.S. Route 7), between St. Albans State Highway and Upper Gilman Street. The facility has been active since 1802, was formally established in 1803, and contains more than 5,000 graves.
