ʻUpolu Airport (IATA: UPP, ICAO: PHUP, FAA LID: UPP) is a regional airport in Hawaii County, Hawaii, US. Located on the northern tip of the Big Island , it is 3 nautical miles (5.6 km; 3.5 mi) northwest [ 1 ] of the unincorporated town of Hawi .

[6] [7] In 1993, the airport was renamed Keāhole-Kona International Airport, after the nearby resort town of Kona. [8]
The new service was named "Hele On" after a Pidgin Hawaiian phrase meaning "to get out of here" or "to move along". [22] Olan Carpenter, wife of Dante, came up with the name.
