As for listed burn rate, myself and two friends found a stark discrepancy in the latest chart. That being, H1000 and N170. We we’re working with the 7mm Geramo, which is a 6.5x55 necked up to 7mm and then Ackley Improved. We found H1000 to be very accurate with 162 grn ELD’s.
There is no such thing as an accurate burn rate chart, especially since the effective rate often changes according to application. ie Powder 'A' might be slower than 'B' in 308 Win, but that's reversed in 45-70 or a large case magnum.
I recently asked Western powders about the temp sensitivity of their Ramshot line of powders. Here is their reply. Most of our powders are not insensitive, and will show some effect at hot and cold temperatures. However, we test at -40F and +125F and the deviation in most cases are ca 3% to 5% at these extreme levels.

ie 2.8 of titegroup, 2.8 bullseye, 2.8 red dot for example, have the same burn rate but are VERY different in case volumes. I am looking for something to help me load a 6.5-250 Savage wildcat for one project and there are others. Powder volume is rarely discussed. Nosles gives velocity and case volume but only for specific calibers. Thanks
Prove it to yourself. Look at IMR 4166 and IMR4064 on Hodgdon's reloading data in 308 with 168 SMK. Two powders side by side on the Hodgdon Burn Rate Chart. Powder composition including additives and geometry of the powder affect the heat input per grain of powder and burn rate.
