The Albanian Volleyball Cup is the top annual national men's volleyball cup competition in Albania. It was founded in 1954 by the Albanian Basketball Association and the club with the most titles is Dinamo , who have won the competition on 18 occasions.
The Albanian Volleyball Federation (FSHV) (Albanian: Federata Shqiptare e Volejbollit) is the head governing body for the sport of professional volleyball in Albania. It organises the first division, second division leagues and a cup competition.
The Albanian Volleyball League is the top flight professional volleyball league competition in Albania, which currently features 7 clubs in 1 division.The league was founded in 1946, shortly after the formation of the Albanian Federation of Volleyball (FSHV) and it has remained the top flight men's volleyball competition in the country ever since.
It is the best sport achievement for Albania out of any club sports, they participated so far. [90] The Albania women's national volleyball team won at the 1987 Mediterranean Games in Syria, their biggest success ever. [91] In their following participation at the Mediterranean Games in 1991 they finished their campaign in 4th place.
The sport rapidly grew in Albania and by the 70s almost every city and town had its own volleyball club and volleyball field. After communism fell many of the volleyball clubs folded as many players left the country to play for foreign teams. The volleyball attendance decreased and the popularity of this sport fell down worryingly.
