While our article estimates R1b originated some 30,000 ago, according to the new data Haplogroup R1 originated only 18,500 BP. That means R1b cannot be linked to the Cro-Magnon or to European Upper Paleolithic anymore, since R1b probably originated not much longer than 10,000 ago.
