Ardmore Traditional Cask was the distillery's single malt. It was bottled at 46% ABV, in bottles embossed with an image of a golden eagle. Unlike many single malts, barrier filtering, rather than chill filtering was used. Ardmore Traditional Cask was superseded by Ardmore Legacy in 2014, with ABV reduced to 40% and chill filtration used.

The distillery was begun by Andrew Rankin, a Master whisky blender at Ardross mains farm in December 2015. [2] The entire distillery project, including a bonded warehouse outside Glasgow cost approximately £50 million. [2] Planning approval was granted for the distillery in February 2017.
Single malts can be bottled by the distillery that produced them or by an independent bottler. The age statement on a bottle of single malt whisky is the age of the youngest malt in the mix, as commonly the whiskies of several years are mixed in a vat to create a more consistent house style.
