Gallup was born at Bridport, Dorset, England to John and Christobel Bruchette Gallop. He was baptized at St. Mary's, in Mosterton, Dorset on January 25, 1620.. On September 4, 1633, the younger Gallup arrived in Boston in the Massachusetts Bay Colony aboard the Griffin with his mother, brothers, and sister Joan.
John Luke Gallup (born January 16, 1962) is an American economist. Gallup got his PhD in 1994 at the University of California, Berkeley. [1] From 1996 to 2000 he was a Research Fellow at the Center for International Development at Harvard University. From 2008 to 2009 he was Fulbright Scholar at the Vietnam University of Commerce in Hanoi.

Gallup was born in East Berne, New York to Nathaniel Gallup (1770–1834) and Lucy (née Latham) Gallup (1773–1862). [1]His ancestors fought in the colonial wars, including, Capt. John Gallup, who was killed in the Narraganset Swamp fight with the Indians, and another, William Latham, who was killed at the Battle of New London.
