The Reporter. (newspaper) The Reporter is an American weekly community newspaper based in the Chicago suburb of Palos Heights, Illinois, and serves the Illinois communities of Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park, Worth, Chicago Ridge, Palos Hills and Hickory Hills. It is a Thursday newspaper delivered to subscribers via mail, but hits newsstands Wednesday.
The paper was founded in 1904 as the Joliet Herald. In 1913, its founder, Ira Clifton Copley , purchased the Joliet News , a paper that had been founded in 1877. In 1915, the two papers were merged producing the Herald-News .

Joliet Correctional Center, which was a completely separate prison from Stateville Correctional Center in nearby Crest Hill, opened in 1858. The prison was built with convict labor leased by the state to contractor Lorenzo P. Sanger and warden Samuel K. Casey. The limestone used to build the prison was quarried on the site. [2]
