Yunjin (Chinese: 雲錦), Nanjing brocade or cloud brocade, [1] is a traditional Chinese luxury silk brocade made in Nanjing since the end of the Song dynasty, [2] and based on weft-weaving techniques from both the Song and Tang dynasties. [1] It is shuttle-woven, and often incorporates gold and silver threads with the coloured silks. [3]

The museum was formally established in 1978 and is a key historical and cultural site.
Known as Chating station (茶亭站; Chátíng Zhàn) during planning stages, it was renamed Yunjinlu station in 2007 to promote the accession of yunjin (brocade), a product characteristic of Nanjing, to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists. [3] The station is decorated with a Qingming theme. [4]
It lies next to Nan Bu Ting (南捕厅), the South station of the former Nanjing Police Station. [1] It was built in the reign of the Jiaqing Emperor (1796–1820), the Qing dynasty, and its first owner was Gan Xi's father, Gan Fu. Originally known as "Fraternity Hall" (友恭堂), [2] it now serves as the Nanjing Folk Museum.
