The 2010 World Karate Championships are the 20th edition of the World Karate Championships, and were held in Belgrade, Serbia from October 27 to October 31, 2010.
Douglas Santos Brose (born 11 December 1985) [1] is a Brazilian karateka. He is a three-time gold medalist in the men's kumite 60 kg event at the World Karate Championships. He also won the gold medal in the 2009 World Games, the 2015 Pan American Games, as well as being an eight-time Pan American Karate Championships champion. [2]
In the United States it was published by Epyx in 1986 as World Karate Championship. [ 2 ] It was the first European-developed game to become a major hit in the United States, where it sold over 1.5 million copies, but it drew controversy for its similarities to Karate Champ (1984), which led to Data East filing a lawsuit against Epyx.
Championships in the 2000s included Madrid in 2002, Monterrey in 2004, Tampere in 2006, Tokyo in 2008, and Belgrade in 2010. [ 7 ] [ 8 ] The competition was initially riddled with controversy regarding karate styles and the ruleset.
