Students enrolled at the GTU or any of its member schools have the opportunity to choose from among more than 700 courses offered across the consortium each year. With 8 member schools, 5 academic centers, and 5 affiliates, the GTU is one of the largest theological consortiums in the world.
BST students are rooted in an evangelical heritage and tradition, equipped for ecumenical partnership in ministry, biblically and theologically literate, skilled in the practice of ministry for personal, ecclesial, and social transformation, and committed to the justice demands of the Gospel.
GTU Degree Programs. With a focus on interreligious and interdisciplinary perspectives, the Graduate Theological Union offers PhD and MA degree programs spanning more than 30 concentrations of focus, allowing for diverse educational interests and vocational goals.
Admissions & Aid. At the GTU, the proximity of our member schools, multi-faith centers, and interdisciplinary programs creates a dynamic intellectual community. The GTU offers two degree programs, the Master of Arts (MA) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), as well as several certificate programs.
The GTU’s 100% online Master of Arts degree is designed to prepare students to engage the world’s great religions and wisdom traditions in contemporary contexts. This program offers students access to the resources of the GTU without relocating in the San Francisco Bay Area.
We will assist you with building academic and professional skills as you accomplish required degree program milestones, with information about services and resources, as well as ideas for well-being and life balance issues, and more – from your first days to the completion of your degree.
