K. Ramasamy (Tamil: கு. இராமசாமி; born 1 May 1948) is the former Vice Chancellor [1] of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India, and was also the Member of State Planning Commission (agriculture and irrigation) [2] of Tamil Nadu.
The members of the High Level Committee, consisting of Dr. S. Arumugam, Dr. M. Natarajan, and Dr. S. Kameswaran, submitted the proposals to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. G. Ramachandran in the presence of H. V. Hande, former Minister for Health and Family Welfare Department of Tamil Nadu, on 5 July 1983 to start a separate medical university in Tamil Nadu.
The College is recognized by the Medical Council Of India and it is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai. This institution is located at Vaniyangudi village, Manamadurai road, about 4 km from the main town on the route to Manamadurai.
The staff quarters campus has a ladies hostel, guest house with 40 rooms, the Dean’s mega bungalow and 5 blocks of teaching and non-teaching quarters. The college has a bus and two small canters to transport the students for the practical classes, field trips, shore laboratory campus and other official visits.
Sylendra Babu was born in the town of Kuzhithurai, Kanniyakumari District, Tamil Nadu.He attended the Govt Higher Secondary School, Vilavancode, Kanyakumari District.He has BSc (Agriculture) from the Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai and majored in agriculture extension from the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.
