The brigade contains four prime components, [4] all headquartered at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The Brigade's two permanently assigned MP battalions are the 504th and 508th Military Police Battalions at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. [4] The Brigade also contains a Force Protection unit and a detachment for the Brigade's Provost Marshal. [4]
In 2011, the 189th Infantry Brigade transferred from the authority of Division East, First Army, to Division West, First Army, and uncased its colors at Joint Base Lewis-McChord on 7 September. The brigade has worked closely with the Civilian Response Corps to standardize and institutionalize the training for the PRTs. [ 16 ]
The Fort Lewis and McChord AFB Education Centers host these colleges, which offer a variety of course work to serve both civilians and military personnel. Several hundred undergraduate and graduate college courses are offered on base each year. [ 1 ]
