The F-M School District was established in 1951, when the then independent Fayetteville, Manlius and 11 other smaller districts united. Fayetteville High School and Manlius High School remained separate until 1954, when the Manlius School became the Jr. High (7–8) for the whole district and the Fayetteville school became the Fayetteville-Manlius High School (9–12).
As of the Fall of 2018, there were approximately 3,500 students enrolled in the East Syracuse Minoa Central School District. As of the fall of 2010, The racial/ethnic makeup of the student population was 92.2% White, 3.2% Black or African American, 1.4% Asian or Pacific Islander, 1.4% Hispanic, and 1.8% Native American.
The club hosts an annual Central New York MUN Conference (CNYMUN), often inviting over a thousand delegates from around New York. Another extracurricular area in which the Hornets excel is Mock Trial, where in 2016, Fayetteville–Manlius High School won the New York State Mock Trial Championship with an undefeated season record.
