Wizard101 is a 2008 massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by KingsIsle Entertainment. Players take on the role of student wizards who must save the Spiral, the fictional universe in which the game is set, from various threats.
KingsIsle Entertainment was founded in January 2005 by Elie Akilian. [1] Inspired by his teenage son, who was a fan of video games, Akilian established KingsIsle in Plano, Texas, [2] and started hiring former employees of id Software and Ubisoft to work on what would become Wizard101. [1]
A massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) is a video game that combines aspects of a role-playing video game and a massively multiplayer online game.. As in role-playing games (RPGs), the player assumes the role of a character (often in a fantasy world or science-fiction world) and takes control over many of that character's actions.
Turn-based games come in two main forms: simultaneous or sequential (also called player-alternated). Diplomacy is an example of a simultaneous turn-based game. There are three types of player-alternated games: ranked, round-robin start, and random. The difference is the order in which players start a turn.
Purchasing a membership grants unlimited access to all Chapters for a limited time. Upon character creation, players are given free access to "Introduction" and to "Prologue Part 1", the first Book. As the player progresses, more areas become available. Currently, the maximum level a character can obtain is Level 70.
