High Plains Drifter is a 1973 American Western film directed by Clint Eastwood, written by Ernest Tidyman, and produced by Robert Daley for The Malpaso Company and Universal Pictures. The film stars Eastwood as a mysterious stranger who metes out justice in a corrupt frontier mining town. [ 4 ]
Ernest Ralph Tidyman (January 1, 1928 – July 14, 1984) was an American author and screenwriter, best known for his novels featuring the African-American detective John Shaft.
As a teenager, he excelled in sports at Charleston High School. At Hargrave Military Academy, he was captain of the football and track teams, earning him athletic scholarships at numerous colleges and universities. He chose to accept an offer from Virginia Tech.
