We Beat the Street: How a Friendship Pact Led to Success is an American autobiography aimed at young adults written by The Three Doctors and Sharon M. Draper on April 21, 2005. The novel shares the experiences of Dr. Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt, and George Jenkins as well as other professional authors.
The three grew up in public housing and came from low-income families. [2] During high school, the three made a pact to get through high school, college , and medical school successfully [ 3 ] [ 4 ] and credit school counselor Carla Dickson with guiding them through their tumultuous teenage years. The Pact covers the lives of Davis, Jenkins, and Hunt, three young black men who made a pact to graduate from college and become doctors rather than to succumb to the violence in their community. [2] In 2003 the book won a Books for a Better Life Award for "First Book", [ 3 ] also being named one of the Library Journal's "Best Audiobooks of 2002".
