Timberline Lodge is a mountain lodge on the south side of Mount Hood in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States, about 60 miles (97 km) east of Portland.Constructed from 1936 to 1938 by the Works Progress Administration, it was built and furnished by local artisans during the Great Depression.
Mount Hood Summer Ski Camps have been a mainstay in the summer, hosting campers since the 1970s. The summer camps are mostly organized as week-long sessions, with on-snow activities in the morning and a variety of other activities in the afternoon, such as river rafting, mountain biking, hiking, trampoline, wind surfing, etc. [ 10 ]
It is located in what is now Mt. Hood National Forest, about 5 miles from Government Camp in Clackamas County, Oregon. The building was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in September, 2009. [2] [1] The listing was announced as the featured listing in the National Park Service's weekly list of September 18, 2009. [3]
The community is located within the Mount Hood Corridor on U.S. Route 26 (the Mount Hood Highway), near its intersection with Oregon Route 35 and the Barlow Pass summit of the Cascade Range. As of the 2010 census, the community had a population of 193. [4] The government's 2016 estimate indicated a population of 121 persons. [5]

Timberline Lodge is a National Historic Landmark located on the southern flank of Mount Hood just below Palmer Glacier, with an elevation of about 6,000 ft (1,800 m). [10] The mountain has four ski areas: Timberline, Mount Hood Meadows, Ski Bowl, and Cooper Spur.
