The A26 between M22 Junction 1 and Junction 10 of the M2 was progressively upgraded to a dual carriageway and so it is now unlikely that the M2 will ever be completed. The section between Junctions 1A and 2 is ten lanes (five lanes and two full-width shoulders each way) and, when it was opened, was the widest motorway in the United Kingdom. [1]
The M2 drops to three lanes throughout the junction, but returns to a width of four lanes after the junction. After J2, the motorway passes over the wide Medway Valley via the Medway Viaducts alongside HS1, with the North Downs Way running alongside the eastbound carriageway of the M2 here.
The M2 is one of the main roads in Malawi. [1] The road works as transportation artery in Malawi, stretching 113 kilometers in east-west direction across the southern region. Beginning in Blantyre , [ 2 ] the country's second-largest city, the M2 traverses the scenic landscape to reach the border with Mozambique at Thornwood, providing a link ...
The route is the first to have a 120 km/h (75 mph) special speed limit (this was previously reserved for motorways, see Road speed limits in the Republic of Ireland for particulars). 13 km (8.1 miles) of this dual carriageway stretch became motorway on 28 August 2009. (see M2 motorway). N2 looking south from overbridge at Junction 2.

The two road bridges carry the M2 motorway carriageways. The other viaduct carries the High Speed 1 railway line linking London and the Channel Tunnel. All three bridges pass over the Medway Valley Line (to Paddock Wood). The first Medway Viaduct, built to carry the M2 motorway, opened on 29 May 1963.
The A2 reverts to a non-primary single carriageway road at this point. The M2 now parts company to bypass the Medway Towns, while the A2 heads into them. It enters Strood before crossing the River Medway into Rochester. The A2 bypasses the old High Street, heading instead along Corporation Street alongside the railway lines.
Motorways in Ireland are generally constructed to high-quality dual carriageway standard – with sightlines, curves and elevation designed for 120 km/h speeds. Until recently, all motorways were built with wide medians in the centre, which typically have a wire or steel barrier with a continuous hedge growing and covering it over time.
