Jodi Benson (née Marzorati; born October 10, 1961) [1] is an American actress, voice actress and singer. She is best known for providing the voice of Ariel in Disney's The Little Mermaid (1989), as well as in its its sequel, prequel, and television series spin-off, along with many other Disney works.
Ariel is a fictional character in Walt Disney Pictures' animated film The Little Mermaid (1989). Voiced by Jodi Benson, Ariel is the youngest daughter of King Triton and Queen Athena of an underwater kingdom called Atlantica.
In the 2008 direct-to-DVD prequel The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning, Triton bans music from Atlantica after his wife Athena is crushed to death by a pirate ship. He forces everyone and the city to follow a strict daily schedule, straining his relationship with free-spirited Ariel.
