As Namek gets closer to its explosion, it looks like Goku can beat Frieza with ease, as he has finally stopped holding back and Frieza is getting weaker from the strain of his 100% full power state. Finally, Goku decides to leave, stating that Frieza has already lost to a fighter superior to him, but the tyrant won't give up that easily.
Though Goku's power exceeds Vegeta's, he is still no match for Frieza. Goku uses his last resort, a massive Spirit Bomb with the energy of Namek and the surrounding worlds, and it seemingly defeats the tyrant. However, Frieza manages to survive, and he unleashes his wrath upon the group by gravely wounding Piccolo and murdering Krillin.
Frieza first appears on Planet Namek, where he systematically eradicates most of the native Namekian population to obtain the Dragon Balls so that he can wish for eternal life.
