Chevrolet has won the first manufacturer's championship of the fuel injection area; keeping their momentum going from the carburetor era of racing. Even with Toyota's overall success in the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, their vehicles picked up eight engine failures to neutralize the eight wins that they accumulated during the course of ...
The only significant difference between the two was the inclusion of electronic fuel injection on the 1FZ-FE, whereas the 1FZ-F used a carburetor. [ 2 ] The 1FZ-F produced 188 hp (140 kW) at 4400 rpm and 268 lb⋅ft (363 N⋅m) at 2800 rpm; its fuel injected counterpart produced 212 hp (158 kW) at 4600 rpm and 275 lb⋅ft (373 N⋅m) at 3200 rpm.
Peak power for a 1975 Canter is 100 PS (74 kW), but power increased to as much as 125 PS (92 kW) for the twin-carb version fitted to the Galant GTO GSR and A115 Galant GS-II. Used an 84 mm × 90 mm (3.31 in × 3.54 in) bore and stroke. In Australia this engine was used in the Sigma, Scorpion and L200.
The carburetor is a Weber twin venturi 28/32 TLDM unit. Power output is improved to 90 PS (66 kW; 89 hp) with the benefit of improved torque and fuel economy. EFI versions used in the Escort XR3i, 1.6i and Fiesta XR2i retained hemispherical combustion chambers. From the 1989 model year all EFI variants are fitted with the Ford EEC-IV ECU.
L-Jetronic was widely adopted on European cars during the 1970s and 1980s. As a system that uses electronically-controlled fuel injectors which open and close to control the amount of fuel entering the engine, the L-Jetronic system uses the same basic principles as modern electronic fuel injection (EFI) systems.
It used an EFI system with electronically controlled injectors, which were mated to a twin barrel "carburetor" body. It featured "swirl port" heads (helped emissions, but severely stunted power output) and served as the base V8 engine in all C/K 1500 Series and 2500 Series (under 8,500 lbs GVWR) GMC/Chevrolet trucks and vans.
