Shinjuku Southern Terrace (Japanese: 新宿サザンテラス) is a commercial zone located at Yoyogi 2-chōme, Shibuya, Tokyo, at the western side of Shinjuku Station Southern Exit. It was built above the Odakyu Odawara Line , to the west of Takashimaya Times Square across the Yamanote Line , and to the south of Shinjuku Mylord.
A nine-storey building with the same name was built on the site in 1923. The building survived both the Great Kantō Earthquake and the bombings of Tokyo during the Second World War. With a total floor area of over 60,000 square metres, it was the largest office building in Asia when it was completed. [1]
The Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi is within the building. [1] The building also houses Aeroméxico's Japan offices. [2] The building was developed following a tender of the underlying land by Japan Railway Settlement Corporation in 1997. Pacific Century Group acquired the land and led the development of the property.
