Use proper markup: Employ careful wiki markup- or template-based list code (see Help:List for many pointers). Especially do not leave blank lines between items in a list, since this causes the MediaWiki software to misinterpret each item as beginning a new list. (There are HTML techniques to insert linebreaks or additional paragraphs into a ...
Line breaks or newlines are used to add whitespace between lines, such as separating paragraphs. A line break that is visible in the content is inserted by pressing ↵ Enter twice. Pressing ↵ Enter once will place a line break in the markup, but it will not show in the rendered content, except when using list markup.
Note that there is no blank line between comments, and if you reply using multiple paragraphs, use the colons before the blank line between paragraphs (see MOS:LISTGAP for explanation). 3. Your response to a reply should be positioned below that reply, but above any later responses that were made to a different comment. In the following, Alice ...
Here's a table (top) and its underlying wikicode (bottom). The wikicode is split into seven chunks by six blank lines, for ease of understanding. In lists of links such as inside infoboxes and navboxes, use a horizontal list (perhaps via the template {}) to format lists. For occasional cases where you need to delineate two pieces of text outside of a list, you can use the templates or which contain a before the dot, thus handling some of the wrapping problems.
Between paragraphs—as between sections—there should be only a single blank line. First lines are not indented. Bullet points should not be used in the lead of an article, and should be used in the body only to break up a mass of text, particularly if the topic requires significant effort to comprehend.
In the second example above, the numbering resets after the blank line. This problem is less noticeable with other list types, but it still affects the underlying HTML code and may have disruptive effects for some readers; see WP:LISTGAP for details. In order to be a list, each line must begin the same way. This holds true for mixed lists.
