Green Brook is an excellent golf course but they are rather pricey as well. Mountain Ridge I believe is predominately a Jewish club, so if you are not Jewish, it may be very hard for you, Plus there initiation and dues are very high. Check out Metuchen Golf & Country Club. Very nice course and reasonable dues.
The dues are about as good as you are going to get in that neck of the woods. Personally, it was not my favorite course. Suburban is a better course IMO, but it is golf only. Check out Metuchen Golf $ Country Club. Awesome course, but no true driving range. Beautiful pool area as well. I still get emails waiving an initiation fee and all.
A few other options I would consider are Metuchen Golf & Country Club in Edision, Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly & Suburban Golf Club in Union. The good thing about joining a club in the 27-28 range is that a lot of clubs have dues tiered based on age. Shop around, explore and find the club that is right for you and your buddies.
Any members of Metchen here? I'm playing the NJ Mid Am there next week and would love any insight on the course. I'm playing a practice round Saturday at 2pm if any members are around and want to play. Let me know, any help is appreciated!

That is a lot for a private club. Unless its 300-350 golf and the rest are social or house. I played the course about 5-6 years ago. I think the layout was just ok IMO. The pool area though is really nice, so with kids, that is a nice plus. Suburban is a much better course, but there is no pool. Check out Metuchen Golf & Country Club.
Hi there, the Country Club Elite by Real Feel has proven to be one of the most reliable and durable mats on the market today. Well known for being one of the first mats that enabled the user to directly place in a tee, the Country Club Elite features a Long Dense Fiber System, replicating the turf interaction that you would find on a Country ...
@Scotty RThe Glen Club is pretty sweet if you're under 36. 4k initiation, then about $600 a month for unlimited golf, great facilities, etc. They also have reciprocity with Royal Melbourne and Hawthorn Woods and other Kemper Sports properties like Sand Valley + Bandon, etc. Family plays pretty much for free with you, preferred tee times, etc.
One of my favorites is Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenalfy. Great course, facilities, etc. Try and get in before you turn 36, as the dues double and the initiation is much higher, as of 2016. White Beeches may be one to check out as well as Haworth. For me, the best bang for your buck is New Jersey National Golf Club.
Two great tracks, a historic club house, a friendly and fun membership, and (compared to North Shore and Western/Hinsdale area clubs) far less $$. You can, but don't have to, drive to the club. There is a Metra stop that is very close to the club. So, if you have a couple of drinks after golf, you can take the train to Chicago Downtown.
