As of the 2020 census, the population was 40,999, [4] down 3.0% from the 2010 census population of 42,270. [5] Its county seat is Eaton. [6] The county was formed on February 15, 1808, from portions of Butler and Montgomery Counties.
The bridge was built in 1829 by (and named for) Orlistus Roberts, originally crossing Sevenmile Creek about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south of Eaton at 39°42′41″N 84°37′15″W.
