Note that in APA 5th Edition style, the following rules apply for the reference: For reference books, which includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, and glossaries, the book title is preceded by the word In. It is not italicized, but the book title following it is. The book title appears in sentence case.
WP:Citing sources § Citation style permits the use of pre-defined, off-Wikipedia citation styles within Wikipedia, and some of these expect sentence case for certain titles (usually article and chapter titles). Title case should not be imposed on such titles under such a citation style consistently used in an article.

Minor works (and any specifically titled subdivisions of italicized major works) are given in double quotation marks not italics, even when the title is not in English. (For details, see § When not to use italics.) These cases are well-established conventions recognized in most style guides.
I don't see why they should be treated differently from titles of books, or why there should be a distinction between popular song titles and the titles of orchestral works, for example. A quick flick through som emusic mags seems to back me up on this - all titles are generally italicized when quoted within a body of text.
Here's a convincing argument that a game is a game, and not a major artistic work whose title should be italicized: “Game Over: On italicizing the titles of video games.” Worth a read. —Michael Z. 2012-01-24 16:52 z. His argument wouldn't carry much weight here, as we actually do italicize board game titles such as Monopoly.
Some titles of major works will reference other titles of major works; some of the former will even go so far as to literally italicize the latter on their covers and cover pages. For example: McIntee, David (2000). Delta Quadrant: The unofficial guide to Voyager. London: Virgin Publishing Ltd. ISBN 0-7535-0436-7. Rindsberg, Ashley (c. 2021).
I would like to italicize Cyrillic, in references to academic publications, because the italic is not used as "distinction from the surrounding material", as you phrase it, but to convey meaningful information to the reader of the citation: when we cite a chapter in a book, or an article in a journal, we leave the chapter or article name ...
Hello. I just wanted to let you know that when you add the title of a book, film, album, magazine, or TV series to an article, it should be italicized by adding two single apostrophes ('') on both sides. Titles of television episodes, short stories and songs should be placed within quotation marks.
