Perth Amboy High School opened a new 590,000 square feet (55,000 m 2) facility in September 2024 that was designed to handle 3,300 students and was constructed at a cost of $283 million by the New Jersey Schools Development Authority, which paid for all but the $3.3 million covered by the school district.
As of the 2021–22 school year, the district, comprising six schools, had an enrollment of 2,144 students and 170.5 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.6:1. Its cost was about $28 million and replaced the 76-year-old building on New Brunswick Avenue. It was decided that the school should stay located there.
