Muskegon (/ m ə ˈ s k iː ɡ ən / mə-SKEE-gən) is a city in and the county seat of Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. [7] Situated around a harbor of Lake Michigan, Muskegon is known for fishing, sailing regattas, and boating. It is the most populous city along Lake Michigan's eastern shore.

Davis served as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 1861 to 1864. [2] He became mayor of Muskegon in 1870 and was reelected in 1872. [ 2 ] He was involved in the lumber business, and he became president of the Lumberman's National Bank when it was founded in 1873.

The conviction by a jury in Muskegon of ex-convict Herman Barmore in the murder of a 12-year-old Boy Scout Peter Gorham. Gorham was shot in the wilderness as he returned from a hike in July 1955 to Camp Wabaningo, located 12 miles north of Muskegon. The trial was the longest in Muskegon County history. [5] (UP-5)
