The Cannon Valley Trail is a paved rail trail that follows the Cannon River in southeast Minnesota. The trail is expected to close the rail trail gap between the Chicago Great Western Railway sections of Faribault and Cannon Falls. [2] Once complete, the entire route from Mankato to Red Wing, then south to Rochester, will be complete via the Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail, the Mill Towns Trail, the Cannon Valley Regional Trail, the Goodhue Pioneer State Trail, and the Douglas State Trail.
The Root River State Trail was initially authorized by the Minnesota State Legislature in 1971. The state of Minnesota bought 49 miles of abandoned rail bed in 1981 for $975,000. The Root River State Trail was built on 35 mi (56 km) of this acquisition. Development of the trail started in 1985 and was completed in 1988 with the $2M in state bonds.

Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is a 15.3-mile (24.6 km) mixed-use path in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It is maintained by the Three Rivers Park District. [1] The trail features 8 separate boardwalks in 1.7 miles (2.7 km) that traverse Nine Mile Creek and its marshes. It is predicted to serve 400,000 people yearly. [2]
