Wilson Avenue opened on July 14, 1928, as part of an extension of the Canarsie Line. This extension, done as part of the Dual Contracts, connected Montrose Avenue, which had opened four years earlier, to Broadway Junction, which was the western end of the already-operating elevated line to Canarsie. The platform, which only has one single-sided bench, serves the middle track (Manhattan-bound) and northern one (Rockaway Parkway-bound). The southernmost track is a stub-end track that leads to the Canarsie Yard. [6] The only grade crossing of the subway system was located at where East 105th Street crossed the Canarsie Line. [7]
At this time, it was connected to the already-operating elevated line to Canarsie. The DeKalb Avenue station opened as part of this extension. [15] [16] [17] In 2024, the MTA installed low platform-edge fences at the DeKalb Avenue station and several others on the Canarsie Line to reduce the likelihood of passengers falling onto the tracks.
