Avondale is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, adjacent to Phoenix. As of the 2020 census , the population of the city was 89,334, [ 3 ] up from 76,238 in 2010 and 35,883 in 2000. Avondale, incorporated in 1946, has experienced rapid residential and commercial growth in the years since 1980.
602 was the original area code for Arizona, and was split in 1995 into 602, serving metropolitan Phoenix, and 520, serving the remainder of the state. [1] In 1999, 602 was split into 480, 602, and 623, [2] which were recombined in 2023. [3] 520 was split in 2001 to form area code 928. [4]
Tolleson is located on the western side of the Phoenix metropolitan area. The community lies just south of I-10.The city of Avondale lies approximately 6 miles (10 km) to the southwest, and Fowler, a former unincorporated community now within the Phoenix city limits, is 3 miles (5 km) to the east.
Kierland Commons is home to about 75 stores, restaurants and services on approximately 38 acres (150,000 m 2) and cost approximately US$65 million to build. Like many shopping centers in the Phoenix area, it is managed by the Westcor division of Macerich , though majority ownership is held by the developer, Woodbine Development Corporation .
In 1980, Phoenix dwarfed other cities in the region with a population of 789,704. [6] Mesa was the next biggest city with a population of 152,404, followed by Tempe with a population of 106,919. Cashion is a neighborhood and former unincorporated community in Avondale, Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. [1] As of 2000, it had a population of 2,965. It is bounded in the north by Buckeye Rd., in the south by Durango St., on the west by 115th Ave., and on the east by 107th Ave.
It was licensed to Phoenix, Arizona, and was owned by KASA Radio Hogar, Inc. [2] The studios are on West Baseline Road in Phoenix. By day, KASA transmitted with 10,000 watts. Because 1540 AM is a clear channel frequency, KASA reduced power at night to 19 watts to avoid interference to other stations. It used a directional antenna at all times.
