The area has been the town center since settlement of the town began in the 1720s. Prominent in the district are the Westford Academy building and the First Parish Church, two fine Federal style structures built in 1794, and the Italianate town hall, built in 1871. Westford is a census-designated place (CDP) and the primary hamlet in the town of Westford, Otsego County, New York, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. [2] The community is in eastern Otsego County, slightly north of the center of the town of Westford.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 33.8 square miles (88 km 2), of which 33.8 square miles (88 km 2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km 2) (0.06%) is water. Elk Creek drains the town, flowing southward. Cherry Creek in Cherry Creek Valley flows through the southwestern part of Westford.
