Unaffiliated voters can choose to vote in the Republican or Democratic primary, but they may only vote in one party’s primary race. Early primary voting began Feb. 15, and Election Day is March 5.
In response, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a bill in July, Senate Bill 3, that would require judicial candidates to be registered with their party label for at least 90 days.
