The 1988 McDonald's All-American Boys Game was an All-star basketball game played on Sunday, April 17, 1988 at The Pit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The game's rosters featured the best and most highly recruited high school boys graduating in 1988. The game was the 11th annual version of the McDonald's All-American Game first played in 1978.

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association boys' and girls' state basketball championships are single elimination tournaments held each March featuring 16 high schools. Colloquially known as the Sweet Sixteen (the KHSAA holds a trademark on the phrase).
Estill County emerged with its first ever state championship in class 2A. The biggest surprises were in class 4A as Madisonville-North Hopkins high school came in second to cross-state rival, Grant County high school, along with Hopkinsville high school making its ever state finals appearance.
Hopkins West was awarded the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in 1983-84. [4] It was the first middle school in Minnesota to receive this honor. The National Association of Secondary School Principals, in 2004, included Hopkins West as one of the '100 Highly Effective Middle Level Schools' in the nation.
The school, located on Hanson Road, replaced the old Madisonville High School. Classes had graduated from the Spring Street facility from 1939 to 1968. The building now houses Browning Springs Middle School. MNHHS is one of two high schools in the Hopkins County school district, the other being Hopkins County Central High School.
