Ambattur is a northwestern part of Chennai, India.It is located in Ambattur taluk of the Chennai District, surrounded by Avadi, Anna Nagar, Korattur, Padi, Mogappair, Kallikuppam, Surapet, Ayappakkam, Athipet and Thiruverkadu.
This taluk was created from a division of Ponneri taluk, Tiruvallur district. On 4 January 2018, Chennai district was expanded by annexing Ambattur taluk.
