In September 2021 Kingsthorpe College joined the Orbis Education Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust, which also includes Southfield School in Kettering. [2] As of 2023, the school has approximately 1,400 students on roll, with 160 in the sixth form. The school moved into a new building in 2007, and is located on a single site on Boughton Green Road.
Sponne School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form, with 1358 pupils on the roll, around 200 of whom are in the Sixth Form. [2] It is registered as a specialist science and music academy. The school is a member of the Tove Learning Trust, the CEO of which is Dr Jamie Clarke. The Headteacher of the school is Graham Forbes.

The sixth form is open to students from all schools and has an admissions number for external students of 60. Places are allocated by sitting a test, the top 60 being admitted. Each year there are approximately 550 first choice applications to join Y7 and 300 applications from students currently in Year 11 at other schools.

The school was taken over by Kingswood in 2004 and its students were then mixed with The Kingswood School's pupils. The Lower School site was then used as a sixth form centre. The disused Our Lady and Pope John site underwent demolition from November 2012, following an arson attack on the site in August 2012.
Previously a specialist Science College, the school converted to academy status in April 2012. However, the name only changed to Huxlow Academy in late 2022. There are just over 900 students on roll, including around 100 students in the Sixth Form, which is shared with two other local schools. The head teacher is Kim Isaksen.
Following co-ordinated action by local residents, the planning permission application was withdrawn by the sponsor PlayFootball at the end of 2008. [9] In September 2008, Thomas Becket Catholic School became a Specialist Sports College. [10] [11] The Specialist Schools Programme ended in 2010 after a change in the national government. [12]
