The Riddler (Edward Nigma, later Edward Nygma or Edward Nashton) is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang , and debuted in Detective Comics #140 in October 1948.
Matt Fowler of IGN gave the episode a "great" 8.0 out of 10 and wrote in his verdict, "Gotham took a break after its Jerome arc and returned with a fun installment focusing on the official birth of Edward Nygma's Riddler persona - a tale that smartly used the underutilized Lucius as Edward's foil." Edward "Ed" Nygma (portrayed by Cory Michael Smith; seasons 1–5) is a forensics operative who works for the Gotham City Police Department and often presents his information in riddles. He initially starts off as an awkward but intelligent man with an unrequited crush on archivist Kristen Kringle.

Nygma remembers Strange worked for an organization in Indian Hill and seeks to find out more.
Later, Bruce reconnects with Selina and apologizes for leaving her a decade prior. Meanwhile, Cobblepot and Nygma escape the police and plan revenge on the vigilante, even though they fear him. Gordon, who has decided against retirement, re-ignites the searchlight he put atop the Gotham City Police Department headquarters years earlier.
