St. Joseph's Secondary School, also known as Saint Joseph's Convent School or as Convent School, is a Catholic secondary school in Freetown, Sierra Leone, established in 1868. [1] It is affiliated to Saint Joseph's Primary School (Sierra Leone) and to St. Edward's Primary School and St. Edward's Secondary School, all also in Freetown.
The headquarters of the diocese and the bishop's office are situated at St Joseph's Diocesan Centre in Sophiatown, Johannesburg. The diocese oversees St John's College, Johannesburg, St Mary's School, Waverley, Bishop Bavin School (former), St Peter's College, Johannesburg and Vuleka Schools. The diocese has a total of 76 parishes
The school was announced in May 1951, under the name St Joseph's Convent and was to be an all-boys school. [3] The permit was granted in June 1951, [4] and the foundation stone was laid on 16 March 1952. [5] Despite the weather on 16 March, many still attended the laying of the foundation stone. [6]
