The growing season, when the vegetation in the taiga comes alive, is usually slightly longer than the climatic definition of summer as the plants of the boreal biome have a lower temperature threshold to trigger growth than other plants. Some sources claim 130 days growing season as typical for the taiga. [1]
Drunken trees, tilted trees, or a drunken forest, is a stand of trees rotated from their normal vertical alignment. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] This commonly occurs in northern subarctic taiga forests of black spruce ( Picea mariana ) under which discontinuous permafrost or ice wedges have melted, [ 3 ] [ 4 ] causing trees to tilt at various angles.

Their findings illustrate that the growing season has grown 2.66 days per ten years. This growing season change as a result of global warming is having an extreme effect on the taiga.
