In 2020, the community voted on a motto for Upper Darby, "The World in One Place," reflecting the multicultural community of the present day. Upper Darby has seen a rise in LGBTQ activism of late, and Upper Darby Pride, a non-profit organization planned the first Upper Darby Pride Fest for June 2020. It was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
