Hot Wheels (HW) (HWs) Collectors Series #1-1121, 1989-1999; "Blue Cards" Era #1-274, (1989-1994) general diecast car discussions.
Ive been using an excel spreadsheet with all the usual information (type of car, yr, descript, what i paid, current value if known, yada, yada) and have been attaching a pic of said vehicle thru the a "comment" in a cell, hover the cursor of the comment and a pic of the car is shown in the flyout. i have them stored on backup drive also in case anything happens...just my 2 cents.
There were several variations for this one. Between painted and non painted bases and different wheels, there is one that just had the collector # on the card that had 5 spoke wheels and China base. The same casting was re-released in 1997 as #991 but with lace wheels.
The Club Kit Magazine came in two versions. One being the 1970s Hot Wheels Annual with a yellow McLaren M2 CanAm racer on the cover. And the other being the Snake and Mongoose Funny Cars racing down the track on the Hot Wheels Club - Collectors Edition - Racing World cover. Both carry a $0.50 price tag and a red Hot Wheels swoosh logo.
Also, yours has 5 spoke wheels which was a variation on #277 along with the black walls that were on #271. Maybe worth $2 due to the condition it's in. Reactions: Michaelkeith , samace22 and 5thGenCamaro
So I was going through a several thousand carded hot wheels, mostly from the 90s and early 2000’s. I also had a few thousand loose hot wheels in varying conditions purchased at garage and estate sales. As I was sorting these about to list them somewhere like eBay, I decided I was going to sort them into car type instead of series or year.
In their 1989 Hot Wheels Collectors Book, they noted that production in 1968 had peaked at 1,000,000 castings a week. And that by 1989, 918,000,000 Hot Wheels castings had been sold around the World. This falls short of the projected estimate of 1,092,000,000 if production had been sustained at a weekly rate of 1 million cars bring made.
