Just a notarized bill of sale listing the year, make, model & serial # for the boat, motor, and trailer. Show each separately on one bill of sale. You can also list that it includes all attached accessories. If you have the registration card for the boat, give that to the buyer also. You keep the tag that is currently on the trailer.
If the trailer is a 1986 or newer year model and weighs 2000 pounds or more, it requires a title. If it does not weigh 2000 pounds or more, a bill of sale will work for any year model. This is my wifes response, she is the Tax Commissioner in the county where we live.
The new owner can get a tag using the bill of sale. You do not have to have a title for a trailer of that length in Ga. to get a tag. I have gone through this process many times buying and selling boats. If your trailer does not have a model and serial no. plate, pull it down to your county's tax commissioner/tag agents office.
Mine has 7500 carrying capacity. Bought in LA. I had to get inspected and weigh with boat. I then subtracted the boat and motor weight to get net trailer weight. Also apparently in LA they don't require plates. It did not even have a bracket for one and no registration. Bill of sale, scale ticket, and inspection was a i needed.
Does anyone have a copy of a boat bill of sale they can send me or tell me where to pick one up. Buying my first boat and the only thing I can find on the computer you have to buy or download.

I have registered a boat recently with just a bill of sale. No problems. Do it on the app and upload a picture of the bill of sale. There are some ?’s on the application like hull id, motor serial number, old registration #. I’ve actually done 2 in the last year with no problems
I bought a boat and trailer from a member on here, lost my bill of sale, so I went to the tag office, they gave me a tag for a homemade trailer and a new serial number for it. No forms to fill out or anything. 4 years ago I had to get a formed filled out by a deputy to say he had inspected it for lights and such and that it was road safe.
