The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is an American fantasy television series developed by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay for the streaming service Amazon Prime Video. It is based on J. R. R. Tolkien's history of Middle-earth, primarily material from the appendices of the novel The Lord of the Rings (1954–55).
Payne and McKay were set to develop the series in July 2018, and a second season was ordered in November 2019. Filming began in the United Kingdom in October 2022, with Brändström returning from the first season. Production on the season wrapped in June 2023. The episode is dedicated to the Siege of Eregion.
Season 2 of the series, set hundreds of years before the events of the epic "Lord of the Rings" movies and book series by J.R.R. Tolkien, will return to streaming this month on Prime Video.
